About

I write memoir, personal essays and professional works but maintain a strong interest in fiction and poetry. I am currently working on a memoir. With a nostalgic eye, I am especially interested in themes of uprootedness, transience, conflicting identities, immigrant experiences, lives at the margin, silencing and erasure, search for belonging, and yearning for home.

I graduated in May 2024 from American University’s MFA in Creative Writing, where I concentrated in memoir and nonfiction. I remain an avid learner from eminent writing and publishing classes offered at Craft Talks, Jane Friedman, Politics and Prose, and the Writer’s Center. I have also completed the full curriculum of the Studio Acting Conservatory.

I have made major career change in my life's work. Before theatre and creative writing, I was an energy economist and evaluator at senior levels in an international organization, where I continue as a consultant. That other life was fueled by a Ph.D. in Energy and Resources from UC Berkeley and an MA in International Relations from Johns Hopkins.

Originally from the Philippines, I now live in Washington DC. I have traveled to almost 60 countries in five of seven continents. Aside from English and my native Tagalog, I speak fluent French and Spanish, and intermediate Portuguese. I’m a gym regular and I love to cook!
